The two most important things to consider when choosing your clip ins - Extension Length & Extension Colour!

Length

Our clip in extensions come in 4 different lengths:

14 inch

18 inch

20 inch

24 inch

If you are new to clip ons then please use the diagram guide below to help choose the perfect length for your new clip on hair extensions.

Remember the length stated is the finished/fitted length once the extensions are fitted - measure from your crown down to estimate the finished/fitted length.

Colour

You have a few options when it comes to colour.  You can select an extension that's the perfect match for your hair from within the shop pages OR choose a colour you love and have your hair dyed to match the extension.

If your really unsure you can upload a picture of your hair (or Google an image of hair that's similar to yours) and send it to:

We will then let you know what colour is the perfect match for your hair!

If your own hair is in the red zone then you will need 14 inch extensions.  This will extend your hair to the lower blue/upper yellow zone.

If your own hair is in the blue zone you can go for either 14 or 18 inch clip ins.  18 inch extensions will take your hair to the mid yellow zone.

If your own hair is just in the yellow zone we recommend having 20 inch extensions.  If your own hair is more towards the lower end of the yellow zone then 24inch extensions will be great for you.

This is a guide for first time hair extension users, it is possible to wear 24 inch extensions if your own hair is in the red zone but this takes some experience and may not be a look for every day.  Remember - if your extensions are too long its easy to have them trimmed.  If they are too short - growing them longer isn't an option!

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Fitting your extensions for the first time is a little tricky but after a few goes it becomes very easy and very quick.  Follow the diagram below to fit the extensions in the right place.

There are a total of 10 wefts to fit into place.  Section the hair and backcomb root for extra grip if required.

Start by fitting the small 3 clip weft into position A,

Then the large 3 clip weft into position B,

Now the thick 4 weft strip will go into position C,

Place a 2 clip weft on either side at position D

and finally a 1 clip weft either side in position E.

If your extensions look obvious its likely that they are too long.  If you intend to wear your clip ons for just nights out you may find that a few curls or waves will give you a more natural look.

The easy and more permanent solution for day time users is to have some shaping/layers cut around the face and the back top weft layered shorter.  Ask your stylist to point cut some of the length away and scoop cut the section of extensions that sit around your shoulders.

DYE INSTRUCTIONS

First of all we don't recommend applying a dye to the extensions that's more than 2 or 3 shades darker.  Its recommended that you only dye the 'Home Dye' extensions available from the HeadKandy store.  Always use 3 or 4 boxes/tubes of dye as the extensions will soak up far more dye than your own hair.  This will ensure an uneven result.  In the event of an uneven result you can re-apply the dye.  Always remember to leave your extensions to air dry rather than blow dry.  Once dry you will need to straighten the clip on hair with hair straighteners (ideally GHD / FHI / Corioliss ).  Work with 1 strip of hair at a time when applying dye, straightening or styling your clip ons.  A great trick is to use a wooden 'clamp close' trouser hanger, you can open the clips on the extensions and close the wooden bars - this will make straightening and washing the extensions a dream.
